Former President Mohamed Nasheed met the President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena last Saturday according to Mihaaru.
Nasheed has tweeted a picture of the meeting but did not reveal any details of their discussion.
Nasheed, who has been jailed for 13 years over the arbitrary detention of the Chief Judge of Criminal Court during his administration, is living under political asylum in London. Nasheed arrived in Sri Lanka last week to meet senior officials of his party Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and other diplomats.
This is the second meeting of Nasheed with Sirisena.
He first met him in 2015 after Sirisena was elected as the President of Sri Lanka.
During MDP’s National Council meeting with Nasheed, which was held after a year, discussions were held on the political future of the party and situation of the Maldives as well.
During the meetings with diplomats, Nasheed highlighted the economic issues and political situation of the country.
He also met Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe during the visit.
Great honour and privilege to meet with H.E Prime Minister @RW_UNP. I have found his counsel to be always valuable. pic.twitter.com/x2A94legrM
