Minister Thalatha Athukorala says a pension scheme for migrant workers will be implemented this year. The approval of President, Prime Minister and the Cabinet has already been given. The Minister also said the necessary documents in this regard have been directed to the Legal Draftsman Department and the Treasury.

The registration under the “Shramika Surekuma” programme will be considered when providing pensions.

She made these remarks participating at a mobile service programme held in Polonnaruwa district recently.
