The Jonathan Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today launched a scathing attack on Sanjeewa Senaratne, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SAITM, saying he is not a qualified doctor.
Senaratne was shot at, on Monday night, in Malabe, by two unidentified gunmen, who came in a motorbike.
Commenting on the incident, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said the SAITM CEO was a "quack" who did not complete his degree in medicine.
"He went to Russia to complete his medical degree but could not pass the final exam. He has nor right to function as a doctor in Sri Lanka noir can he display the official sticker on his vehicle. This shows how fraudulent the institution is," addressing a press conference at the JVP headquarters today.
He said the parents of SAITM students, including Gemunu Wijeratne, met the JVP representatives in the past and voiced their grievances about the functioning of the organization.
Wijeratne, he said, has now become a staunch supporter of SAITM.
The GMOA met the JVP leaders a few days ago and sought their support for their union action against SAITM.
