Foreign Minister says Sri Lanka needs more time to fulfil promises given to the U.N. human rights body to investigate war crimes allegations.
Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera said that the government will seek more time at the next U.N human rights session which will be starting on February 27, addressing foreign correspondents on Tuesday.
Through a resolution Sri Lanka promised to work toward ethnic reconciliation which includes investigating alleged abuses.
U.N. human rights chief had called for a hybrid court with local and international judges before.
