CEDAW Will Review Sri Lanka Women’s Rights This Month

The UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) is meeting in Geneva from February 13 to March 3 to review women’s rights in eight countries including Sri Lanka.

The review on women’s right in Sri Lanka will be on February 22, the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) said.

The review on Ukraine will be on February 14, Ireland on 15, Jordan on 16, El Salvador on 17, Germany on 21, Rwanda on 23 and Micronesia February 24.

The eight countries, which have ratified the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women are reviewed regularly by CEDAW, the UNHRC said.

The Committee, composed of 23 international independent experts, will also hold dialogues with delegations from the respective governments during the review.
