President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed a four-member committee, headed by retired Supreme Court Judge Nimal Dissanayaka, to upgrade operation at the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd., also known as ‘Lake House’.
Raja Premadasa, V.D.Dahanayaka and lawyer Chandrasiri Seneviratna make up the rest of the Committee.
The Committee will look into the management and administration of Lake House and present a report to President Sirisena in three months time.
The Government Information Department said the ideas of the staff and public would be taken into account when preparing the report.
It said President Sirisena had appointed the Committee in order to strengthen the institution and to ensure the state-run newspaper is able to compete with privately run enterprises.
