A Sri Lanka maid has filed a complaint with the Home Employment Department in Kuwait, claiming she was not paid for 11 years.

The Al-Anba Daily reports that a senior official from the Sri Lankan embassy in Kuwait accompanied the woman.

The maid said her employer retained 90% of her salary every month, on the pretext of saving the money on her behalf, and given her only 10%.

She said that when she had decided to leave for her home country and asked her sponsor for the money he claimed to have saved on her behalf the past 11 years, he refused.
