Dinesh Chandimal Replaced By Weerakkody In Fourth Test

February 07, 2017

Sri Lanka Vice-Captain Dinesh Chandimal has been replaced by wicketkeeper-batsman Sandun Weerakkody in the fourth test against South Africa today.

Chandimal’s batting has been in poor form and he ha scored only 62 runs in this series so far.

“He is going through a bad patch, Chairman of Selectors Sanath Jayasuriya was quoted as having said.

“But we all know how good a cricketer he is and what he has done for the country. So I am sure he will get his form back.”

“We decided to rest him for today's game and bring in Sandun Weerakkody,” he said.

Chandimal finished the year last year as Sri Lanka's leading run-getter in 50-overs cricket.
