The earnings received by the country from migrant workers had rapidly increased in the year 2016 than in the previous year, revealed Minister Thalatha Athukorale.

Minister made this revelation joining in a function at the presentation of scholarships to children of migrant workers.

Minister Athukorale further said that 261 million US Dollars had been earned by the migrant workers for the country last year than in the previous year.

Minister Athukorale attributed the increase in the earnings of the migrant workers last year to the welfare programmes mooted by the present Government.
