Minister Gamini Jayawickrema has warned that legal action will be instituted against Local Government Institutions that are not engaged in recycling garbage.

Minister issued this warning participating a function held in Giriulla.

Minister Jayawickrema Perera stated that garbage dumps are found everywhere specially in Polonnaruwa and Dambulla.

Polythene is also found in these garbage dumps. This is not witnessed in any part of the world, he added.

He revealed of plans to submit a Cabinet paper claiming that the Environment Ministry, the Provincial Council and Local Governments should recycle the garbage or otherwise to take legal action.
