Former Deputy Minister Chandrasiri Sooriyaarachchi announced today that he would step down from his position as Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Organiser for the Minneriya electorate. 

 Sooriyaarachchi cited personal reasons for his resignation from the post.

He added however that he would continue as party member of the SLFP.

He also said he would contest the upcoming local government polls on the SLFP ticket.
