Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says prices of rice will be reduced within next few days.

A special discussion has been held with the President in this connection with the aim of reducing a price of killo below 76 rupees.

A stock of white raw rice will be imported immediately from Myanmar and will be sold at 60 rupees a kilo via Sathosa outlets.

At a press briefing held in Colombo the Minister said stern action will be taken against the mill owners who hide paddy stocks without being milled them.
