Condition of the state medical faculties and qualifications of some state medical students are questionable and some may not even up to South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) says Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne

Even Professor Nalin de Silva and Professor Carlo Fonseka are open for the idea of private medical universities, Minister stated.

Faculty of Medicine of Kotelawala Defence University was not contested as it was under the patronage of former Secretary of Defense he added. The Co-Cabinet spokesman stated that the new trend is a political stunt.

The first objective of free education is the freedom of education, Minister said.

Minister stated if the Sri Lanka Medical Council offer the common exam for SAITM medical students they have no object of sitting for the exam.

If the court decision is not honored by the doctors there will be consequences, he further added.
