Colombo Additional Magistrate Ranga Dissanayke issued a restraining order against Inter University Students' Federation and Medical Students Association of Kelaniya University preventing protests in a manner which inconveniences the public.

Boralla Police had requested the court order based on intelligence information that protest demonstrations to be conducted in several areas of Colombo by both student organizations today evening regarding yesterday's Court of Appeal's ruling making South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) medical degree lawful.
