Heavy traffic was reported on the roads leading to and from Colombo Fort, this morning, due to Independence Day rehearsals.

Police informed the public last month (Jan. 27) that the Galle Road would be closed in the morning hours, for Independence Day rehearsals.

 They said rehearsals would be conducted on the roads surrounding the Galle Face roundabout and the Old Parliament on January 28, 29 and February 1, 2 and 3.

 The closure of the Galle Road stretch between the Old Parliament and the Galle Face Round about has resulted in heavy traffic congestions in and around the Colombo area, as vehicle unable to access the Galle Road, take alternate routes through Colombo Fort.
