‘Quan Sanqiang’ Arrives At Port Of Colombo

The Oceanographic Research Vessel of the People's Liberation Army Navy, ‘Quan Sanqiang’ arrived at the Port of Colombo for a replenishment and technical halt today morning.

The ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on her arrival.

The Commanding Officer of ‘Quan Sanqiang’ Lieutenant Commander Yang Haitao paid a courtesy call on the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle at the Western Naval Command Headquarters and held cordial discussions.

Mementoes were also exchanged to mark the significance of this official meeting.

The Chinese ship is scheduled to stay in Sri Lanka until 6th of this month.

The 636A ship is named after Chinese nuclear physicist Qian Sanqiang who made outstanding contributions to the establishment of nuclear science in the People's Republic of China and to the development of the PRC's atomic and hydrogen bombs.
