Standardised, quality helmets will be mandatory for motorcyclist from April 1, Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said.

 He was addressing a ceremony to award compensation to families that had lost loved ones due to road accidents.

 Minister Siripala De Silva said the initiative was supported by both the Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI)and the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA).
