Royal College Students Forced To Eat Grass By Prefects

February 01, 2017

Ten prefects at Royal College, Colombo 7 had allegedly assaulted and tortured students at their own school and forced them to eat grass as punishment for watching ‘unwanted things’ on an electronic device.

The students who were assaulted, tortured and forced to eat grass filed a complaint at the Cinnamon Gardens Police Station against the ten Royal College prefects.

According to the complaint the boys said they were beaten up and ultimately forced to eat grass after they were caught watching ‘unwanted things’ on an electronic device by school prefects.

When questioned by the media, the Cinnamon Gardens Police Station said simply that a ‘fight’ had erupted between a group of students and a group of prefects but did not divulge more information.

Police Media Spokesman DIG Priyantha Jayakody denied knowledge of the incident saying he had not received a report of any such incident at Royal College, Colombo 7.

"The prefects' issue has become a serious menace to the day-to-day functioning of the school. The school authorities keep brushing it under the carper, without addressing the problem. Yesterday's incident was a clear manifestation of the  issue" a disgruntled parent told 'Asian Mirror'.

Our attempts to get a comment from the school authorities did not bear fruit.
