Ranjan's Divulapitiya Incident Spurs Backlash

Gampaha District Administrative Services Association (GDASA) has decided to boycott their official duties on Monday as a protest against Ranjan Ramanayake, United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian and Deputy Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare, verbally abusing the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary in public recently.

They demanded the withdrawal of the malicious statement allegedly made by the Deputy Minister and asked to apologize to the Divisional Secretary.

The Association's Vice President and Secretary has written to the President, Prime Minister, Speaker and Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister regarding the issue.

In a footage, which was telecasted yesterday, shows the Deputy Minister visiting a protest held Divulapitya and call Divisional secretary of Divulapitya and gave her a hard talk regarding the issue.

The incident happened while Deputy Minister visited a protest organized against ‘illegal’ excavating soil in Divulapitya.

Meanwhile, MP Indika Anuruddha says that he will file a 500 million rupee defamation lawsuit against deputy minister Ranjan Ramanayake.

Deputy Minister has posted a video footage addressing the incident.
