Pivithuru Hela Urumaya General Secretary Udaya Gammanpila challenged the President and Prime Minister to publicly eat jack leaves and croton leaves and be an example to the people.

Speaking at the "Joint Opposition" rally at Nugegoda, Gammanpila said that the government is asking the people to eat croton and jack leaves as a remedy to the food shortage.

If the government can offer only this solution, the President and the Prime Minister must be an example for the people and eat jack and croton leaves on live television, Gammanpila said.

He added that the government was taking the country into a serious economic crisis by taking extensive loans and also carrying out the foreign governments' agenda.
