Ranjan Ramanayake, United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian and Deputy Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare, was seen addressing a civil servant in harsh language.
In the footage, which was telecasted yesterday, shows the Deputy Minister visiting a protest held Divulapitya and call Divisional secretary of Divulapitya and gave her a hard talk regarding the issue.
The protest was organized against ‘illegal’ excavating soil in Divulapitya.
Protesters accused Gampaha District parliamentarian relative of Indika anuruddha’s is responsible for the said issue.
Deputy Minister noted that officers of Central Environmental Authority also silent on the matter and further added that most parties related to this matter are heavily bribed.
During last regime former Minister Mervyn Silva, publicly punished a civil servant by binding in to a tree.
Resolving issues through proper channels and respecting general rules and regulations is much expected from a Member of Parliament.
