Customs Scores Rs 828 billion From Raids Last Year

Director General of Customs Chulananda Perera says the revenue of the Customs last year was 828 billion rupees. The customs has taken into custody more than 1,200 kilograms of narcotics, foreign currency valued more than 327 million rupees, five kilograms of gold worth 247 million rupees during the raids carried out last year. Furthermore, it has confiscated many illegal foreign cigarettes. The Director General said that the customs acts as income generator and as a protector of the people.
