Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said today that the Land Reclamation and Development Cooperation has done more work under the good governance government than under the former government of Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Speaking at the opening of the new bridges of the Veras Ganga project at Raththanapitiya, Boralesgamuwa, Ranawaka said that the work done during the period between 2010 to 2014 is less than what was done thereafter. These work focused on canals, sewage management, drainage management, land development and other work. While these are not visible to the general observer, they are essential work for urban development, he argued.
Ranawaka also said that the new government wants to develop the country with the agreement of all people concerned, unlike in the past, when things were done in a very undemocratic manner.
Ranawaka revealed that the Megapolis and Western Development Ministry will initiate 100 new programs between January 8 and April 13. Piliyandala, Boralesgamuwa and the adjacent areas will also be developed as part of this, he added.
