Former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran, who was implicated by the COPE report on the Central Bank bond scam, remains an adviser of the Central Bank, Anti - Corruption Front said.
In a letter sent to the President, the ACF said that there was no point in forming a Presidential Commission to investigate the bond scam if Mahendran is still an adviser of the same bank.
He remains an adviser of the Finance Ministry to the Central Bank and was present in the recent meeting on January 6 at the Central Bank, the ACF further claims in their letter to the President.
Mahendran has even advised the present Governor on the decisions that needs to be taken by the Monetary Board, the ACF said. It also points out that this is a blatant violation of the basic tenets of good governance.
