President Maithripala Sirisena announced that he will appoint a new commission to investigate the Central Bank bond scam.

"I will appoint a Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry this week to investigate the Central Bank bond issue and recommend actions" he announced on his official Twitter page.

The COPE committee presented a report to Parliament late last year, implicating former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran and his son-in-law for the bond scam.
