Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived at the national convention of the National Freedom Front at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium a short while ago.

The convention is being held while its leader Wimal Weerawansa is in remand prison over an alleged misuse of state vehicles during the era of the Rajapaksa government.

Several members of the "Joint Opposition" including Udaya Gammanpila are also present at the convention.

Gammanpila said the NFF convention without its leader is something similar to a wedding without a bride.
