The international monitory fund has commended the new strategy of Sri Lankan government to create a financial discipline and bring the country to correct path of economic advancement. She pointed out that the Sri Lankan government has exhibited a great deal of commitment in this regard. Christine Largarde made this comments when she met Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe in parallel to the world economic summit in Davos, Switzerland.
The premier said that Sri Lanka had to face unexpected circumstances when rejuvenating the country’s economy. The nation is passing a dire weather condition with a prolonged drought after 15 years. The prime minister stated that such climatic changes dent the economic progress of the island nation.
Meanwhile the premier met minister of transport and highways of India Nitin Gadkari and chief minister of Andra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu in Davos.
The attention was drawn on obtaining support of the Indian Government to improve road network of Sri Lanka. They also paid attention on improving economic and trade ties between Sri Lanka and the Andra Pradesh. Minister Gadkari and chief minister Naidu said that they are willing to support Sri Lanka and strengthen historical ties.
Leading entrepreneurs and businessmen of the world met prime minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and the Sri Lankan delegation. Co-chairman of Hinduja Group said that his organization is ready to investing the country in the sector of oil refining.
