The work of the Financial City, formerly known as Colombo Port City, will begin in 2018, the project team told Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka.
This was informed to the minister during an observation trip yesterday.
The company is planning to end the land reclamation by the end of 2017. Up to now, 28 percent of the reclamation has been complete.
Ranawaka said that the Financial City project is the largest development project in the country at the moment. The government was able to address the concerns of various parties including environmentalists, fishermen and others by reaching into a new agreement, he added.
