Chinese e-Commerce company Alibaba has showed a keen interest to investing in Sri Lanka and to build an e-Commerce platform to further promote it’s on-line business ventures, Ministry of Finance said in a ststement.
Founder and Chairman of Alibaba e-Commerce company, Jack Ma, has expressed his interest during a meeting with Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake yesterday, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.
According to the Ministry of Finance, Jack Ma has stated that he will take immediate action to start investment in Sri Lanka. He has also pointed out that his proposed investment will generate hundreds of employment to the Sri Lankan youth.
Alibaba is a Chinese e-commerce company that provides consumer-to-consumer, business-to-consumer and business-to-business sales services via web portals. It also provides electronic payment services, a shopping search engine and data-centric cloud computing services. The company was founded in 1999.
