The Court of Appeals today dismissed the appeal filed by the wife of late TNA MP Nadarajah Raviraj against the verdict of the jury of the Raviraj murder trial.
The jury in December acquitted and released the accused in the case, including three former navy intelligence personnel.
However, through her petition, Sasikala Raviraj argued against the decision to appoint a jury and also requested that the verdict be overturned.
The Court of Appeals rejected her appeal today on the grounds that the petitioner was not present and was not represented.
The accused party in the trial was represented today when the case was supported. The lawyer who represented the accused in the High Court trial dismissed the petition and said that the aggrieved party could have easily filed a revision application against the decision to appoint a jury while the case was being heard.
