Naval personnel attached to SLNS Wasaba located in Delft Island belonging to the Northern Naval Command apprehended 2 Indian nationals along with a fishing boat in the sea area North of Delft Island.

When the arrest was made, the suspects had 53 kg of Kerala Cannabis in their possession and it is suspected that the contraband has been smuggled to Sri Lanka form India via sea route. The two Indian nationals and the stock of cannabis were handed over to the Kankesanthurai Police for further investigations.
