Sri Lanka said on Monday that it will seek assistance of the Maldives Security Forces to locate four Sri Lankan fishermen who had gone missing in the seas off Oluvil.
Six fishermen went missing after they set out to sea on Dec. 24, triggering a search operation launched by local authorities.
Officials from the Fisheries Ministry said two fishermen were found last week and they remained in custody of Maldivian authorities.
Officials further said that Sri Lanka had sought help of the Maldives Security Forces to locate the remaining four.
A Sri Lankan delegation was in Maldives to secure the release of the two Sri Lankan fishermen who had been rescued.
