Duminda Silva Too Ill To Be Brought By Wheelchair, Prison Tells Court

Former MP Duminda Silva was brought to the Colombo Magistrate Courts today for the hearing on three corruption cases filed by the Bribery Commission on the alleged failure to submit statement on assets and liabilities. However, prison officials informed court that he was brought in an ambulance and he is not healthy to be brought to court even by wheelchair.

Additional Magistrate Aruni Artygalle observed that no medical report has been submitted by the prison officials. She ordered the prison hospital to submit a report on his medical condition on January 26, when the case will be considered again.

Silva is currently in prison after being sentenced to death over the murder of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.

He has been charged by the Bribery Commission for the failure to submit assets and liabilities details for three years.
