National Economic Development Plan for a sustainable era named “Balagathu Sri Lanka” was unveiled by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today.
The programme will deal with issues and plans of development he added.
The economic plan was introduced in line with the programme unveiled by President Maithripala Sirisena on building a sustainable Sri Lanka.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe pointed that government must address the imbalance in imports and exports.
The Prime Minister stressed on the importance of increasing exports to facilitate job creation in the country.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe Sri Lanka should capitalize on the geographical location in Indian Ocean which is rapidly growing in the region.
He also mentioned that the government is aiming to make Sri Lanka the center of communication for logistics.
