Minister P. Harrison says that measures would be taken to reduce the price of rice in the market within the next two weeks.
Cabinet discussion was held focusing on controlling the rice prices and import of rice.
The minister said at a news conference that a committee chaired by Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama has been formed in this regard.
Minister Harrison said that hactivities will be carried out to import rice within the next two weeks as Sathosa has called for tenders.
He said a decision on the matter will be made today.
