State Minister Dilan Perera, who has been involved in an acrimonious exchange of words with some UNP MPs recently, told a gathering in Bandarawela that the SLFP can topple the UNP 'elephant' if it joins forces.

Speaking at this meeting, Perera said that the 'elephant' can be defeated if all big and small forces joined hands.

Those who are with Maithripala Sirisena, those who are not with Maithripala Sirisena and all other forces must join this attempt, he added.

Perera pointed out that there was a constitutional provision which prevented grabbing power at the moment. However, he wants the SLFP to unite before the Local Government Election and defeat the UNP.
