Ponnuthurai Ainkaranesan, Members of Northern Provincial Council and Minister of Agriculture, Agrarian Services, Animal Husbandry, Irrigation & Environment sworn in as acting Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council today in presence if Governor of the Northern Province.

This was due to absence of C. V. Vigneswaran, Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council. 

Chief Minster Vigneswaran is currently visiting Canada. 

This is the first time an acting Chief Minster was appointed for Northern Provincial Council.

Last time Chief Minster Vigneswaran was abroad, entered into a sister city agreement with a British city without government approval.
