The right to information bill will be effect from this year. 

Deputy Minister of Mass Media Karunarathna Paranawithana says the main objective of this bill is to make the mass media to enhance social responsibility. 

Attention will also be focused to upgrade the aesthetic taste of the public. Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senarathne says colour codes will be introduced for the food items that have sugar, salt and fat. This will be implemented with the aim of preventing the spread of non-communicable diseases. Lenses for cataract surgeries will be provided free. Emergency unit will be setup in each hospital.

Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara says a programme will be implemented this year to increase efficiency and productivity of about 1.4 million government servants.
