Senior Advisory of the Prime Minister Charitha Rathwatte says a programme has been launched to provide relief to the people who sustain economic hardships due to disasters.
He added that a new micro finance system has been put in place in this regard.
The senior advisor was speaking at the 27th annual summit of the Women Development Association which was held in Hambantota.
Mr. Rathwatte pointed out that the Act regarding the micro finances was passed in Parliament unanimously.
Many mega development projects have been initiated by the previous government based on foreign loans.
But the present government aims to attract more foreign investors instead of borrowing money.
He highlighted that such investments would serve to redeem loans taken from the foreign entities.
