UPFA MP Bandula Gunawardena wanted the portfolio of Education Minister as a condition to join the 'good governance' government, Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha former Chairman Indika Koralage revealed.

He told media that Gunawardena told him that he had made this request after he was removed as Homagama SLFP organizer.

If he had been given the ministry, he would now be in the government, Koralage added.

Koralage blamed Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila and other non - SLFP politicians in the Joint Opposition for trying to destroy the SLFP.
