There is no waste of money by using artificial paper to print the Geography text book of Year 7 says the Education Ministry.
The accusation made by Ceylon Teacher Service Union that the ministry has incurred a loss of Rs 132 million to print the Geography Text book of Year 7 is baseless says a release by the ministry.
It was a government decision to print the text books in artificial paper as a pilot project in 2017 to make the learning process more enjoyable.
Moving from black and white to colour printing, use of colour photographs, use of high quality paper, using colourful covers is done to make the books attractive and to improve the quality of the books that are given free and not to satisfy the printers.
