Pujith Jayasundara, Inspector-General of Police asked the police to bear with general public's criticism in a very dramatic and emotional speech.

He said that all policemen should try to win the hearts of people at all costs, though they were being severely criticized. 

He made these emotional remarks at a book launch held at the Police Department this week.

"People like to have freedom and protection and we have to provide it as there is no other way", he further added.

IGP was heavily criticized regarding infamous 'Nilame' phone call recently.
