The lawyer who drafted the Development (Special Provisions) Bill is "a fool" who does not understand the law, the country and the government which is in power.
Speaking during a TV interview, he said that the government came to power to reduce powers of the executive presidency. Such a government cannot give the powers back to a super minister or anyone else, Senaratne said.
He acknowledged that there was a need for new legislation on development. Investments will come to the country if the process is streamlined and accelerated. However, it does not justify the introduction of a new 'Super Minister' who has legal immunity, Senaratne said.
He added that he will never support the creation of such a Minister.
