Bharatha Prabhashana Thennakoon, Media Secretary of Minister Daya Gamage and Deputy Minister Anoma Gamage, has resigned from his position.

Releasing a statement, Thennakoon said that he resigned due to a policy decision.

It is thought that this move is part of the attempt by some champions of 'good governance' to create a new movement. Political sources said that some youth who campaigned for the election of President Sirisena are disappointed at the direction of the government.

Thennakoon was one of the campaigners during the presidential election.
