Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris today granted permission to the CID to question former Narahenpita Police Crimes OIC on an incident where he allegedly discouraged the brother of Thajudeen from pursuing the mysterious death of his brother.
It is alleged that the crimes OIC told Thajudeen's brother not to pursue the incident as it was pointless to do so.
The CID told court that Thajudeen's brother is currently in Sri Lanka and therefore it would be appropriate if they could question the former Crimes OIC Sumith Perera on the incident while the brother was in the country.
The magistrate allowed the CID to question Perera over the incident.
It has come to light that Senior DIG Anura Senanayake had told Thajudeen's father not to pursue the matter regarding his son's death.
Both Senanayake and Perera, who are in remand custody, were further remanded till January 6.
