Retired Major General Kamal Gunaratne came to a settlement with a student who complained that he assaulted him earlier this month.

The student had complained that Gunaratne had pulled him from his collar and threatened him. However, Gunaratne earlier claimed that he was not in the island on December 14 when the alleged incident took place.

However, he later told police that he went near the school that day. He had returned to the island on December 12, it was also said.

After reaching to a settlement, the student withdrew the complain.
