A Sri Lankan court today extended the remand of 15 Indian fishermen till January 5, who were arrested allegedly for cross border fishing last month.
State Coordinator of Alliance for Release of Innocent Fishermen (ARIF) U.Arulanandam said here that according to a communication he had received from Sri Lanka, the 15 Indian fishermen were produced before the Oorkavalthurai Judicial Magistrate (JM) Court after their remand period was expired according to WI.
The court subsequently extended their remand till January five.
Later they were lodged in Jaffna prison.
The Sri Lanka Coast Guard arrested 15 fishermen, hailing from Rameswaram in two separate incidents.
While four fishermen were detained along with a fishing trawler on November one, 11 fishermen were arrested with two boats on November 19.
