The Raviraj murder trial is to conclude today with the jury to come to its final decision.
The trial is conducted against six accused including three former navy intelligence personnel and three former Karuna faction members. The latter three were not present in court for the hearing.
The remaining three defendants had asked for a jury and they were allowed their request. The special jury of seven members have been hearing the day to day trial with High Court Judge Manilal Waidyathilake presiding.
The prosecution today made its final submission saying that the accused have been proven to have taken part in the murder of the former TNA MP. MA Sumanthiran, who represents the aggrieved party, also called for a guilty verdict in his final submission.
The defence pointed out that the three intelligence personnel have been implicated based on a testimony of a person whose credibility was in question. The accused had served the country in their best capacity in their careers, the defence also said.
