State Minister Dilan Perera called for the Development (Special Provisions) Bill to be amended for the SLFP to give its support to it.
Speaking to the media today, Perera insisted that the Bill will create a 'Super Minister'.
Although the Mahinda Rajapaksa government did not have a 'Super Minister' by law, the government did have a 'Super Minister' in practice, Perera said. This was the reason for the fall of that government and the SLFP will not let a new 'Super Minister' to be created, he added.
The government took power saying that power should be decentralized. However, this new proposal is trying to centralize power, and therefore is in opposition to the promises of the government, Perera said.
