Postal workers across the country launched a strike today over seven demands including the demand to rectify flaws in the recruitment and promotion process in the Postal Department.

The government cancelled leave for the workers in an attempt to curb the strike. However, the workers went on with their decision to launch the strike, crippling postal services across the island.

The postal workers had announced that they will launch the strike from midnight today.
